Best Time of the Year to Cycle in Greece

When Is the Perfect Season for Cycling in Greece?

Choosing the best time to cycle in Greece can elevate your experience to a whole new level.
Greece is a year-round destination, but when it comes to cycling, some seasons clearly stand out. Here’s what you need to know before you plan your trip.

Spring (March–May)

Spring is arguably the best season to cycle in Greece. Mild temperatures, blooming landscapes, and fewer tourists make it an ideal time to explore both mountains and coastlines.

Autumn (September–November)

A close second to spring, autumn offers warm weather, beautiful golden scenery, and less crowded roads. The sea is still warm for post-ride swims.

Summer (June–August)

While summer is great for beach holidays, it can be challenging for cyclists due to high temperatures. If you choose summer, stick to early morning rides and higher altitudes. Thats why discovering the hidden villages is the best tour for the summer period!!!

Winter (December–February)

Cycling in winter is possible, especially in southern Greece and islands like Crete. However, expect rain and shorter days. Not ideal for longer tours.

Our Tip

For the best overall experience, plan your cycling holiday in Greece during April–June or September–October.
